Question:

I Need digitally signed driver for spectare sp12914 TV Viewer.
Windows 7 home premium, 64 bit will not allow for unsigned driver to run the application.
HP Presario CQ61 notebook PC.
AMD Sempron processor M120 2.10 GHz, 2 gig RAM, plenty of hard drive space.
The 64 bit driver on the installation disk does not appear to be signed.

Solution:

We have released a new driver that will fix this problem and allow our driver to work under Windows 7 64 bit systems.

There is an updated driver posted at the URL listed below. Please follow these steps to update your driver.

1) uninstall any previous drivers
2) restart your computer and DISCONNECT the TV Viewer Dongle
3) Go to this URL:
http://spectareproducts.com/support/SP12914_TV_View/software/

4) download this file onto your computer: Spectare_TV_View_Driver_2.0.zip
5) unzip the file using Winzip, stuffit or another supporting application
6) Open the folder Spectare_TV_View_Driver_2.0/Driver
7) Launch the application InstallDriver.exe
8 ) Confirm the warning about downloading content from the internet
9) After installation connect the TV Viewer Dongle to your computer
10) The correct drivers should be installed automatically and the TV Application should now receive TV channels and function normally.

Can I transfer video from a Sony Handyman camcorder?

Answer:

Regarding the movies you can play on the Spectare 7″ Entertainment station. There are a multitude of movie file types that are floating around out there.

IF any movie file can not be read by the player it means it does not have the correct compression type (Video Codec) and the file needs to be converted. There are many different types of movie files so in order for the unit to play the file, the compression and size need to be compatible. All portable players will be limited in the file types they are able to playback. For the Entertainment station it will playback these types:

MPEG1, MPEG2, MP4 (unprotected), DIVX, XVID, AVI, DAT

There are converters available that will help you to convert files for playback. There is one you can try at this URL:

http://www.aone-soft.com/quicktimeconverter.htm

There is a free trial so you download and install the software and try it out on your PC. You can select the files you want to convert by pressing the Add Files button – Choose the settings for Output format as AVI, then under Advanced select Xvid or DivX as the Video Codec. Also choose 640×480 as the Width/Height. After you make the settings press the Convert button and it will make a new file for you. Then you can copy this file to your Entertainment Station or save to an SD card and try it to see if it works on the player.

Regarding your Sony Camcorder– or is this a DV Cam?

If you are trying to obtain movies from tapes such as 8mm, HI8, VHS, VHS-C etc.. we do offer another product on our site:

Spectare Video Grabber PC

http://www.spectarestore.com/servlet/the-25/usb-video-capture%2C-vcr/Detail

You can connect the USB dongle to your Windows PC computer and then connect your Sony Camera to digitze the movies from your tapes. In the software you can choose to create either MPEG or MP4 Files that are saved to your hard drive. Once the files are created you can copy these to your Entertainment station and play them back.

Hope this helps.

Question:

i tried to hook up my comcast cable tv coax cable to the spectare -scan ok found many of channels but no picture, its keep saying no signal to all channel after click on each channel.

Solution:

We have tested this with Comcast cable boxes. For Comcast it seems they are broadcasting a slightly non standard signal so the TV Viewer unit can not receive channels when the input is set to “QAM” input source. I believe that Comcast does this to restrict access to their programming.

However, there is a trick to this

To Receive COMCAST Cable:

- First you need to connect the TV Viewer unit to the output of the Comcast Cable box. Take the cable that would normally go into the TV and plug it directly into the TV Viewer.

- NEXT, on the PVR software control panel click on the “input source” button and select “Analog TV”

- Now click on the “settings” icon on the PVR control panel and click on the “channel” tab.

- after you the scan is performed you will likely only have ONE station in the memory - probably channel 3 since this is what the Comcast box is set to by default.

- You should be able to see channel 3 on the PVR software– use your Comcast remote to change the channel.

You can view and record any program that you receive through your comcast cable box.

I have done what has been instructed and I again was unable to get the wizard tocome up. I again got the “USB Device Not Recognized” message. When I clickon the device and then click on the driver information I get the followingmessage: No driver files are required or have been loaded for this device.I have clearly loaded these from the cd rom. If I select to change thesettings and go under the general tab, I see the following message: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems.

———————————–

SOLUTION: There could be an initial installation problem since Windows is not recognizing the unit correctly. In our experience about 95% of the cases can be solved through a few troubleshooting steps that will get you up and running. This will involve cleaning off your old drivers and reinstalling again. Once Windows recognizes the correct driver you should not have this problem again and each time you connect it will automatically select the right settings. Sometimes, however, it takes a bit of work initially to get Windows to recognize the correct drivers. Hopefully these steps will get things working.

————————————–

FIRST,

Verify that you have everything cleaned off your system:

Click on START and go to CONTROL PANEL
then go to “Add and Remove Programs” (under Windows 7 this is under
“Programs and Features”)
look down the list and uninstall EVERYTHING that starts with ‘OVT’
AND ‘BLAZE’. It is possible that you might see more than one OVT
program listed here.
Once you have removed all of the old drivers and Blaze application
then UNPLUG THE UNIT (if it is still

plugged in) and RESTART YOUR COMPUTER.

————————————–

SECOND,

Reinstall the most recent OVT driver and BlazePhoto application from the most

recent CD ROM available (Sept 2010 or later) or go to our website on this page:

http://spectareproducts.com/support/PhotoSaver/PhotoSaver-drivers.html

If needed you can manually launch the correct driver installer from the CD ROM.

If you have a 64 bit system go to this location on the CD: Driver/64bit/setup.exe

Double click this application to install the driver.

RESTART YOUR COMPUTER AFTER THE DRIVER INSTALLATION.

After restart open the CD ROM or launch the BlazePhoto installer you downloaded

from the website.

Install BlazePhoto 2.0.

————————————–

THIRD,

After the driver and Blaze installation is complete plug in the unit.

Once it is plugged in the hardware wizard should automatically

install the OVT Scanner driver and you should be good to go.

———————————————————-

IF IT STILL DOES NOT WORK TRY THIS:

———————————————————-

Disconnect all of other USB devices such as printers, scanners,

USB cameras and other devices.

Go to your Hardware Device Manager:

for more details on how to get there go to this page:

http://spectareproducts.com/support/PhotoSaver/device-manager.html

Leave the Hardware device manager window open and then connect the unit.
Look to see what icon comes up on the Hardware device manager
when you connect the unit?

1) Nothing comes up
2) ”unkown driver” comes up
3) ”USB camera” driver (under “other devices”)
4) OVT Scanner (under “imaging devices”)

If the answer is 1,2 or 3 then you have a problem. If the answer is
#4 then you should be OK.

If your answer is #2 or #3 then double click on this icon in the
Hardware device manager and go to the Driver Tab.

There is a button to “UPDATE DRIVER”

After you click this button it will ask you if you want to search automatically

or from a specific location:

IF you have the current CD in your drive then choose this as the search location.

IF you have downloaded the installer from the web you should search automatically.

The hardware installer should find the OVT scanner driver and then you should be good to go.

———————————————————-

IF IT STILL DOES NOT WORK:

———————————————————-

If your answer is #1 then you may have a bad USB Cable or a bad
connection in your unit or possibly a bad USB port.

Try a new USB cable if you have one or a different USB port on your computer.

Make sure you are plugging the unit directly into a USB port on your computer and not through a USB Hub.

If you have tried all of this and you still can not get the unit to work then you should contact the Spectare Support department.
